Wedding Photography FAQ’s

  • I take a very natural approach to photographing weddings. I am there to document your incredible day as it happens, focusing on capturing real moments and emotions which is why 99% of your photos are unposed. Even when the time comes for getting portraits, whilst I will provide guidance of where to be for the best lighting & surroundings; how you are standing, cuddling or walking holding hands is however it feels natural to you both.

  • This starts before I’ve even taken a photo. I always have at least two pro camera bodies with me which both have dual memory card slots, plus a number of different lenses. The dual memory card slots allows every photo to immediately be backed up on two separate memory cards in the event there was ever an issue with one. Mid way through the day, usually when guests are eating I’ll change cards & start creating a third backup if possible. Immediately after the wedding another complete backup is taken to a separate hard drive and also to the cloud meaning there are at least 4 copies of all your photos within hours of your wedding taking place. It is definitely rare that any equipment actually fails though!

  • Absolutely! Including a second photographer in your booking is a great idea. The main benefits are being able to capture multiple angles and perspectives throughout your day, for example during the ceremony a single photographer is often limited to staying at the front of the aisle however a second can remain shooting from the back & move around the guests to get many more angles. I usually include 150-200 more photos in your final gallery if you add a second shooter to your package also.

  • Of course! We will capture a few shots of both Bride and Groom pre wedding ceremony which takes just a couple of minutes each. After the ceremony we will take 20-30 minutes away from guests to capture some beautiful portraits of you both.

Rather than posing you as a couple, I use prompts such as “walk over by that big tree & have a chat”. This way you will naturally walk together and get close to each other as you naturally would do, rather than how I’ve told you to allowing the real you to come across in the photo’s.

  • So, group photos are absolutely important for your day. You’ll want to document the most important people in your life at your wedding & this is a great way to capture that.

However, experience has taught me that on your wedding day timescales can be tricky so each minute for photos is important & let’s be honest you want to spend as much time as possible with your family and friends rather than having photo’s taken.

So ideally I advise up to 6 group photo’s is the sweet spot for being as efficient as possible to capture these important photo’s but also have the best balance of time to spend with loved ones on your day. I also advise to have your group shots planned out and given to me plus one of the bridal party on the day to help arrange people to be ready for when needed for the camera to click the photo.

  • Probably!

But honestly, it doesn’t matter. My approach to your wedding photography is that I want to document your day as it happens, real emotions and tell the story of your day through beautiful photo’s to treasure for a lifetime.

I know what to look for in capturing natural light and areas at your venue which will create stunning photographs.

  • I advise clients full galleries will be delivered to you within 8 weeks of the wedding date.

I aim for as soon as possible however, during the busy season of April-October this can vary up to 8 weeks.

  • Your date is secure once we have a signed contract in place between us and I have received your deposit.

Due to the nature of wedding photography dates cannot be held without contract and deposit completed, this will be on a first come first served basis however, I am very open with all clients to communicate if there is other interest in the same date.

  • This is always going to happen - your guests are over the moon to be part of your wedding day & everyone wants the photo with the bride and groom for Instagram.

I do always recommend an unplugged ceremony, that’s what I’m there for and you don’t want people in your photos holding up a phone, you want to see them looking right at you.

    I’ve got it covered!

  • Absolutely, some of the destination weddings I’ve shot are my favourite weddings I’ve photographed!

The benefits of booking me is having someone reputable from your home country, paid in the same currently and there is no risk of communication breakdown (as long as you understand a scouser!).

You often get more coverage than ever as well because what else am I going to do for the rest of the day(s)!

  • To be honest, me too. I think that’s why I started to hide on the other side of the camera!

However, I honestly have such a great time at weddings. We laugh all day & because of how I work we quickly get the photo’s we need when I’m taking portraits and have fun doing it.

It’s the best day of your life! Trust me, you’ll be having a great time and that will definitely come through on your pictures.
